![]() The first Key lime pies weren’t even baked. The pie was born when New Yorker Gail Borden patented condensed milk, which required no refrigeration in the ice-challenged Keys. In the 19th century, juice from Key limes was used by island families to add flavor to fish, turtle and conch steaks. My husband and I will come back here again, hopefully soon.A slice of Key lime pie should be served with a glass of cold milk and a generous serving of history. I'm pretty sure their Key Lime Pie would be excellent too seeing that they are connected to the Fish House. We did not get to have dessert as we were so full. I'm guessing it was just okay considering it's so unmemorable. I'm not sure if I was disappointed by the time the sushi arrived but I honestly can't remember how it was. By that time I've had half of my husband's entree and was full. I'm not sure if they forgot about it or what but it took more than 30 minutes for it to arrive. The Fish Encore grouper was great, again not quite as awesome as Lazy Days but maybe Lazy Days was excellent to us because it was our fresh catch. The seared ahi had a nice flavor and was very fresh. I got a sushi dish that I cannot remember anymore. My husband ordered a seared ahi for appetizer and a grouper Fish Encore style. They have an outdoor seating that was really cute and romantic. My husband and I did not have reservations but were lucky enough to get a table without much wait. We ate at Encore the next night after visiting The Fish House. The chef is seriously amazing and I hope he never leaves! Delicious. Hands down my favorite seafood restaurant in Key Largo, and probably the entire Florida Keys. only once did I save enough room for dessert, and of course had to eat KEY LIME PIE which is a classic for Florida Keys, and is absolutely delicious here as well. baked scallops, seafood platter combo, and crab cakes). But there are other seafood options that look delicious also (ie. I've never had any meats here, the fish is so amazing I don't want to try anything else! I also can't comment on the entree seafood dishes, because I get the fresh fish every time. Fish Encore is sauteed in bread crumbs with Parmesan cheese and chopped tomatoes, this was also delicious. Fish Florentine was amazing also, topped with creamy sauteed spinach. So light and refreshing, yet amazing to the taste buds! Light olive oil sauce with juicy tomatoes, basil, capers, and lemon juice. MATECUMBE preparation on Ahi Tuna or Yellowfin or Mahi is amazing. You don't have to chose from pre-made dishes, you pick your own fish, and pick how its prepared! I'm not talking just grilled or sauteed, I'm talking the whole shi-bang with sauces, veggies, toppings, etc. ANY FRESH FISH is amazing, you chose the fish, and then chose how its cooked, and the toppings! This is my favorite part. BAKED BRIE was delicious with a side of grapes OYSTERS on the half shell are delicious and what you'd expect. I was nearly licking the bowl after this! HIDE THE SCALLOPS was fantastic! We loved this so much, huge mushrooms stuffed with a big lump scallop, covered in creamy spinach sauce and goat cheese. Ahi sushi grade quality with delicious wasabi sauce. Service is great, the wait staff are always friendly and on top of their game. There's also a bar if you don't want a table, and seating at the piano. The indoor atmosphere is romantic and intimate for a date, or, the outside patio seating is great for casual dining. One of the best seafood dinners in the keys! I've eaten here twice now, and both times have been an absolute treat. I would reccommend this place to anyone looking for great, fresh seafood served in a nice setting their place next door is casual and so tightly packed that now I'm a big fan of this place.įrom the service, to the quality of food, to value, this place will bring much happiness to you. There was live music coming from the bar side from a piano man who had a tremedous voice too his range was huge and he had no issues hitting the high notes. The family around me were also very happy with their choices too, so huge congrats for getting it all right.ĭefinately don't leave without trying their Key Lime pie either! So so fresh. The fish was so fresh, it was phenominal. I had the whole yellowtail baked served with the Matacumba sauce on the side and let me say, it was excellent. ![]() We came into this place not knowing they were also owned by the same people but found that out soon enough, and so happy we came here since next door was a 30 minute wait.įood here was great as usual, and service from Danny was even better.
